The Fly Who Flew

Storybook Animation Production Bible

Based on the book series by Lauren Sánchez Bezos. A complete, platform ready animated content library adapted from Books 1 to 3, narrated in Flynn's approved voice.

Short form edition · August 2026
The project at a glance

One library, four kinds of content

We are adapting the first three books of The Fly Who Flew into a single animated library built to work as a system. Each format has a job, and together they keep young viewers arriving, staying, and returning.

01
Storybook films
3 fully animated films, 6–10 min each
The watch. Cinematic storybook films that earn kids' full attention on the big screen, with character performance, camera movement, sound design, and editorial polish.
02
Musical versions
1 hero asset per book, 1:30–2:00
The rewatch. Montage style clips set to an original, catchy song for each book, built for the repeat viewing that turns a video into a habit.
03
Story snippets
8–10 assets per book, :20–:45 each
The hook. Mini arcs, cliffhangers, and emotional beats that stop the scroll and point kids and parents to the full story.
04
Platform packages
1 package per book
The reach. Vertical and square versions, YouTube thumbnails, titles, and motion title cards, ready for every platform and every feed.
Roughly forty five finished assets across the three books, delivered as one coherent world.
Creative north star

The book brought to life, not replaced

Our approach is cinematic storybook animation. The illustrations of the books remain the star. We give them breath: light motion, moments of true character performance, camera moves that guide the eye, and sound that makes each page feel inhabited. Every frame should feel like the book a child already loves, seen through a lens it has never had. Flynn's approved voice carries the narration across the entire library, so the storyteller is constant from film to snippet.

01
The book leads.Fidelity to the original illustrations and text guides every visual decision.
02
Pages that breathe.Motion is purposeful and light. Alive, never busy, always in service of the read aloud rhythm.
03
Performance moments.Characters get real acting beats at the emotional peaks, where kids lean in.
04
Cinema grade finish.Camera movement, sound design, and editorial polish at the level of our commercial work.
The animation direction

One direction, three things to judge

We are not bringing you options. There is one animation direction, and this is what we are asking you to judge it on. Three questions carry it, each with a real answer, so feedback lands as decisions, not impressions.

01
Fidelity. How close we hold to the printed page. Faithful illustration given depth and light, never redrawn or reinterpreted.
02
Motion. How alive a page becomes. Purposeful movement and parallax as the baseline, full character animation where the story earns it.
03
Performance. How far characters act. Where Flynn and friends emote and react, and where the book's stillness is the stronger read.
Creative process

Book pages, reframed for 16:9

Every animated frame starts as the book's original page. Where the printed layout doesn't sit naturally in a widescreen frame, we extend and recrop around the same artwork so nothing is redrawn or reinterpreted. Drag the divider to compare. Eight examples below.

Animation tests

One style, full range

These clips share a single approved animation style. What we're screening isn't a choice between directions, it's coverage: a range of shots, moments, and motion within that one style, so you can confirm it holds up everywhere the library needs it to.

Voice and music

One storyteller, three songs

Flynn's narrationEvery asset in the library is narrated in Flynn's approved voice, produced through ElevenLabs on enterprise terms. Voice is an early gate: we need reference audio in Flynn's approved voice by August 10, because that voice threads through all forty plus assets and everything downstream waits on it.
Original songsEach book gets one original, catchy song built around its theme, driving the musical version of that story. The bar is simple: a hook a five year old sings in the car. Melodies are written to be repeatable, so the musical versions become the piece kids revisit again and again.
Sound design philosophySound carries the storybook feeling as much as the picture does: the paper of a page turn, the buzz of small wings, room tone that makes a bedtime read feel close. Every film, snippet, and cutdown is fully designed and mixed, never just scored.
Distribution and audience

Two audiences, one funnel

We are building two audiences, and they convert differently. Kids make Flynn a habit on YouTube: full films and musical versions on the big screen, playlists that roll one story into the next, songs that earn the rewatch. Parents grant permission and carry the word: Shorts and Reels reach them mid scroll, and the existing Instagram becomes the trust channel. One platform rule shapes the plan: made for kids content on YouTube runs with comments and community features off, so Instagram and Facebook are not just where parents are, they are the community the kids' channel cannot have.

YouTube horizontal
The watch time engine. Full films and musical versions, premiered as events and organized into playlists for living room viewing. Channel to be created and dressed before the Book 1 premiere.
YouTube Shorts
Discovery for kids and parents. Snippets with cliffhangers that point to the full story.
Instagram and Facebook
The parent community, building on the existing @theflywhoflew account. Reels from the snippet library, premiere countdowns, bedtime framing, saves and shares.
Flynn owns the wind down: the bedtime show parents trust and kids demand.
Distribution and audience

Program the library, don't post it

Forty five assets released at once is three days of noise and then silence. Sequenced, this library is a twelve week broadcast schedule, one book per month, built entirely from the deliverables in this scope.

Snippets seed the story as Shorts and Reels through the first two weeks. The film premieres as a YouTube event in week two, with a countdown on the parent channels. The musical version lands a week later as the retention engine. Cutdowns keep the mid week rhythm through the back half. Every snippet ends pointing to the full film, and every film ends pointing to the song.

SHORT → hooks the scroll
FILM → earns the watch
SONG → earns the rewatch
FOLLOW → earns the future
Publishing runs on Cosine's channels. We deliver every asset named, sized, and tagged to this calendar so upload is a checklist, not a project.

How we work together

Approvals that protect the calendar

Cosine has full creative approval, and on a six week calendar the schedule lives or dies on how those approvals flow. We propose one point of contact on each side, notes consolidated into a single voice per review, and a two business day turnaround at each gate. Reviews are decision moments: each one closes a question so the pipeline behind it keeps moving. Anything we can settle live in a fifteen minute call, we will.

One contact, one voice of notes, two day turnarounds. That is the whole machine.
